Young missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not choose where they will go for their two-year mission. They are assigned by the leaders of the church in Salt Lake City based on inspriation. The missionary and the family don't know where the missionary will serve (it could be anywhere in the world) until they recieve the mission call letter.
